Earth Observation Satellite Track and Global MGRS/Geographic Tile Visualization Tool¶
Last updated: 2024-11-11 09:08 UTC
Overview¶
The tool below enables visualization and identification of several Earth observation satellite mission ground tracks and their location with respect to two common data tiling frameworks: The Military Grid Reference (MGRS) tiling system adopted for Sentinel-2 and the Harmonized Landsat/Sentinel-2 project, and the geographic 1x1 degree tiling over land areas. The tool enables identification of tile boundaries and satellite tracks covering any given tile. For the geographic 1x1 degreee tiles a lower left (LLName) name (e.g. used by SRTM, NASADEM) or upper left (ULName) name (e.g. used by JAXA for ALOS ScanSAR data) is provided. We also share a status map of Analysis Ready Data (ARD) in form of MGRS-tiled time series stacks of Sentinel-1 data processed by and available from Earth Big Data LLC.
Supported Satellite Missions¶
Currently supported Satellite Missions (with open data policy):
- Landsat World Reference System 2
- Sentinel-2 Tracks (Download)
- Sentinel-1 Ascending and Descending Observation Scenarios (Detailed KML Files)
- NISAR Track/Frame location for ascending and descending paths (with actual recent acquisition dates once the mission launches)
Interaction with the Visualization Tool¶
- Turning on/off grids and satellite track data:
Click on labels in the legend
- Turning on/off detailed information on a location:
Cick on Hover tools in the toolbar
(Sequence from top to bottom is same as in the legend) - ZOOM IN with
Box Selection
tool (enabled by default) - ZOOM OUT with
